By desert standards the Sonoran Desert is lush, with a huge diversity of plants and animals. The 60 acres southwest of 36th and La Cholla in Tucson portrayed in this gallery is an excellent example. However, if the mayor and city council allow a developer to ignore existing zoning and pack in 170 town houses much of it could be scraped away.
