One thing people forget about when they talk of replacing much of the desert sw of 36th and La Cholla is that the Oyama Elementary School is there. A local elementary needs access to samples of the wild, close as possible. Learning what millennia of natural selection comes up with where the students now live I imagine is mandatory. As you can see here, the red-roofed Oyama School sits at one corner of the desert bordered by 46th St and La Cholla Blvd , where many acres soon be scraped bare to pack in 170 townhouses will soon be scraped bare if the mayor and council vote to give to grant a developer's request to get a pass on the zoning.
