Many things disappear when we lose wild lands. Big views, natural habitat, and places to play. We also lose countless details like these on Oak Flat where foreign-owned Resolution Copper wants to dig the key mineral for our dependence on technology like I'm using here. If the National Forest Service says OK to that, a vast sinkhole will result, plus much of the surroundings will be scraped bare for the giant kit it takes to move so much land. And countless details of nature will be lost. Details that the ancestors of the San Carlos Apache have been seeing for millennia. They call this land Chí’chil Biłdagotee and regard it as sacred. Here, in or among the rocks and plants, the spirit messengers live who link humans with the creator. For prayers to be answered, Oak Flat must remain intact.
