Posts and Beams
I decided to go with a wood rather than steel structure because I thought it would be easy enough to do myself. Although I installed the posts and beams for the hut shed I quickly realized that didn't prepare me for doing the house. Fortunately there was Johnnie and Paul, experienced framers. They did the thinking, measuring, cutting, etc. I hammered nails. They were good workers and I hired them for other projects throughout the construction.

No safety glasses?
Instead of drywall which I never cared for I covered the studs with whatever flat stock I had plus whatever I needed to buy. Then I covered the plywood and OSB with a wonderful strong yet very thin pywood type material called Luan. Unfortunately I since learned that not only does it come from Southeast Asia and the Philippines, many of the sources aren't from sustainably managed forests. Hmm.
