Belize
Belize is a comfortable place to be. Most everyone speaks English. But between the back and the front of the bus you might hear half a dozen languages including Spanish, German, Garifuna, Creole, and Mayan. Everyone seems to get along fine and the voter turnout on election day is 85%. Plus the Carribbean blue sea out on the reef has more underwater critters than I've ever seen in my life.
Read MoreElla lives in the Garifuna village of Hopkins in the country of Belize. Her backyard is the beach. When Ella grows up and has children sea level rise due to global warming will probably put this beach permanently underwater. And by the time Ella has grandchildren her village may also be submerged, as will much of her country. Please think of Ella and her family when you vote, and when you consider choices that affect your carbon footprint. (Ella rakes leaves and coconut shells from the beach next to her house.
